PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Internationally recognized postharvest physiologist and UC Davis Distinguished Professor Emeritus with more than 45 years of experience developing science-based solutions that improve the quality, storage, handling, and marketability of fresh fruits and tree nuts. At UC Davis, Dr. Crisosto led a globally recognized research and extension program, collaborating with growers, packers, exporters, retailers, commodity organizations, and government agencies. His work spans stone fruit, table grapes, tree nuts, figs, kiwifruit, mangos, blueberries, persimmons, and other specialty crops, with a particular emphasis on the orchard-level factors that determine postharvest outcomes. Following a 34-year career at the University of California, Davis, Dr. Crisosto now provides strategic technical consulting for growers, packers, shippers, and other industry partners to help maintain fruit and nut quality from the orchard through the supply chain. His approach is to develop short-term commercial solutions, while simultaneously pursuing the mid-term goal of better physiological understanding to support the long-term goal of plant improvement.
